Walking Into the Unknown: The Birth of RAKOSAT

The Spark of Inspiration
There are moments in life when you have an idea so crazy that you have to stop and ask yourself… Am I actually going to do this?
Some years ago, I read a book about a solo traveler who walked across Africa. It was an old book, filled with vivid descriptions of breathtaking landscapes, fascinating cultures, and the resilience of the human spirit. I was hooked. There was something deeply inspiring about the idea of traveling on foot—just you, the road, and whatever the journey has in store for you. It tests your grit, your strength, and most importantly, your mindset.
But something struck me.
Throughout the book, the traveler shared how strangers helped him—offering food, shelter, guidance. What I didn't see was him giving back. The kindness seemed one-sided, and a thought lingered in my mind: What if the journey wasn’t just about receiving help, but also about giving it?
And just like that, a tiny seed was planted in my mind. A simple idea, growing stronger with every travel story I read and documentary I watched. The idea of walking long distances—not just for the adventure, but to spread kindness along the way.
The Wild Idea Takes Shape
I've always wanted to do something adventurous, something worth waking up for every day. The more I explored travel stories, the more I noticed the same theme: what others do for the traveler. But what about the traveler doing something for others?
That’s when I knew—I wanted to walk, to explore, but most importantly, to give back. Whether it’s offering a smile, helping a stranger, or supporting someone in need, even the smallest act of kindness can mean the world to someone.
And so, Random Act of Kindness, One Step at a Time—RAKOSAT—was born.
The Fears and Doubts (Yes, They’re Real)
Of course, reality kicked in shortly after.
Am I fit enough for this? How will I fund this journey? What will my family think? Am I completely out of my mind?
I haven’t told many people yet. The few I have? Well, let’s just say their blank stares were less “Wow, that’s amazing” and more “Are you feeling okay?” One even gave me a polite nod, the same nod you give to a friend who just told you they’re moving to Mars.
And then there’s my mom. Oh, my poor Mother. She will 100% think I’ve lost it. There’s a solid chance she’ll have a mini heart attack when she hears this (God, please don’t let this happen).
The Challenges Ahead (Because It’s Never That Simple)
I have zero experience in long-distance expeditions. Planning, budgeting, gear selection—I’m learning everything from scratch. But the biggest challenge? Finding the financial and community support to make this happen.
To fund this journey and the acts of kindness along the way, I’m launching a merchandise store—so people can support while wearing something meaningful. I’ll also be growing my social media to connect with like-minded people who believe in the power of kindness.
The Excitement (Because Fear Is Boring)
Despite the doubts, the uncertainty, and the endless “What ifs”, I’m excited beyond words.
To give up everything and chase what makes my heart race. To step into the unknown with an open heart. To prove that you don’t need to have everything figured out to take the first step.
I don’t have a perfect answer to why I’m doing this. Maybe I’ll find it along the way. Or maybe, just maybe, the journey itself is the answer.
One thing’s for sure—this is just the beginning.
Let’s walk. Let’s help. And let’s see where the road takes us.
