It’s strange how you can wake up one day and realize your life has quietly folded into a routine that doesn’t even feel like yours.
I remember sitting in my apartment in Dubai—four walls, a job that meant nothing to me, a version of myself I barely recognized. I wasn’t unhappy in some dramatic way. I was just... dulled.
Disconnected.
Drifting.
So I decided to do something. Not something grand. Not something aesthetic. Something hard. Something honest.
That’s where the 30-Day Burpee Program began.
Why Burpees? (And Not Just Because They Hurt)
I could’ve picked anything. But burpees?
They don’t let you hide.
No gym, no equipment, no excuses. Just gravity, body weight, and willingness.
You can do them anywhere — in a park, on a rooftop, in a hotel room, or on a dusty mountain path somewhere in Armenia.
I designed this program for one person: me.
To test how far I could push myself.
To fight the mental fog that comes from living without direction.
To see if I still had the grit to follow through on something that sucked — daily.
What I Was Really Training For
Honestly, I didn’t realize it at first… but this wasn’t a workout challenge.
It was therapy. A confrontation.
Every time I dropped into a pushup, I was dropping into something deeper — something I hadn’t wanted to face:
That I was mentally slipping.
That my job was killing my spirit.
That laziness had become a hiding place.
That I felt purposeless in a world moving too fast for meaning.
I started to wonder — was this self-punishment or self-rescue? Maybe a bit of both.
Maybe this wasn’t about reps or form.
Maybe it was about reclaiming something inside me that I’d let go quiet.
What Changed in 30 Days
Physically? Yeah, I got stronger. More explosive. More capable.
But the real shift was internal.
I became the kind of person who showed up — even when I didn’t feel like it.
Even when I was tired, burnt out, unmotivated, or sore.
Especially then.
That kind of discipline… that’s what I need for the journey ahead.
Because here’s the truth: I still don’t know what “ready” means for walking thousands of kilometers across countries.
But I know this — I’m more ready than I was before.
